Tips For Showing Your Home

The most powerful tool in selling your home is the first impression. Use the time-tested rules listed below to appeal to the five senses of a potential buyer.

Outside Entry – Make sure it is clean and inviting.

Windows – By cleaning the windows your home appear to be larger and brighter.

Lights – Make sure all fixtures are working and leave them on for showings, day or night.

Closets – The neater the closet the larger it will appear.

Bathrooms – Make sure all leaks are fixed and that it smells clean and sparkles.

Bedrooms - Use freshly laundered linens and remove any excess items that may cause the room to look cluttered.

Minor Repairs – Repair creaking doors, remove dirty wallpaper, clean walls, and other items that may be loose.

Floors - Shampoo rugs and carpet, mop tile, and vacuum stairs.

Pets – Keep pets outside if possible.

Background – Loud televisions or music can detract the work already done. You want the agent to be able to speak to the potential buyer.

Try to vacate the premises during showings. The buyers want to inspect the home and not feel like they have intruded.
